The Neighbors

So it all started about a week ago. I was lying in bed when I heard a strange noise coming from above. I jumped out from beneath my covers as I looked to see where it was coming from. I live alone, so needless to say there's no one to protect me if someone were to break in. I didn't see anyone so I laid back down but just minutes later the noise occurred again and an even louder this time. If it wasn't a person it must be an animal...a big one at that. I looked around for several more minutes but found nothing so I decided to go back to sleep and determined that it was my imagination just trying to scare me.

Every night after this incident the noise continued. It wasn't until Saturday  that I found out exactly what was going on. Saturday morning I got up bright and early to leave. As I approached my front door I opened it to step outside and BAM! Two birds came falling out of the sky just above my head!  I was so frightened that I slammed the door. I opened it up just enough for me to see two birds literally wrestling in front of my door! I shut the door once more and I waited several minutes until they flew away. What on earth was going on?! And then, as i got into my car i looked up towards the top of my town home ...there it was. Four round cylinder pipes leading into the building. I actually found out that they are pipes that lead into what's supposed to be an attack. But since there is no attack these pipes basically lead right into my walls.

As I peered at the pipes in disgust one by one birds were flying in and out in and out! In their beaks they had leaves and twigs...these little rascals we're building a freaking home in my walls!

You can imagine my disgust to learn that I now have birds as "neighbors"!! And they are so loud!

But as I sit here today thinking about these birds...I am reminded of the ravens that were sent to feed Elijah. The season that I am in requires the ravens. I now understand that my obedience has brought me to this stream. I quit my job in pursuit of the calling of God on my life. I understand that in order for me to be positioned I must be obedient. And now when it may look like my help is miles away and to some it may seem impossible to survive without a 9-5, I know that God is delivering my provision in an unusual way. So unusual that all who see will know that this could only be the hand of God.

So flap your wings you little ravens! Descend from the heavens with my meat and bread. Help me build my walls!!
