One Tooth Shy

I've always known I was different. Ever since I can remember I have always been the odd one out. Kids in school would tell me that I was weird at least once a week. I always thought that it was just them who were weird the weird ones. It's crazy because even my own family thinks I'm just a tad bit different. My sisters call me weird all the time and my brother has called me a loser several times. I just thought it was what younger siblings did anyway- be mean that is. Actually my own father asked me one day if I had any common sense! I told him I was a little slow!! My mother has been known to tell me to use my brain! I try but it hurts. My sister may have been the one born with blonde hair in the family, but I'm the real blonde!!

With years of experience in the "being weird" department, today I found out what it is that makes me weird! Well at least one of the things it is. What makes me so different?

As I sat in the very uncomfortable chair at the dentist with two strangers peering over my mouth it happened. The dentist, Dr. Young, began poking around my mouth with his metal contraptions. He had already numbed the right side of my face so I couldn't feel a thing. I sure seen it though! They had my mouth wedged open like a refrigerator door on a Saturday night! hahahaha. All I could pay attention to was the sound of scraping. I told Dr. Young it sounded like a motorcycle was in my mouth. he chuckled and then kept on working. A few minutes later as I opened my eyes, a puzzled look came on his face.
 "Your missing a tooth Mercedes."
My eyes got big. "What?!" I replied.
He peered in closer and said it again. He then asked me if I had ever gotten a tooth pulled and I told him no. "Well it just must have never developed!" he stated.
"I always knew something was missing with me! I said aloud.
"You're just one tooth shy!" he laughed.

That did it. All this time its been a missing tooth! Thus my search to find out why I'm so weird ended today at 5pm sharp.

One tooth shy...one tooth shy.

  2. Reading the first paragraph, I can TOTALLY relate to that. I have been called weird a lot, even my family thinks so. I do feel different than all people and ever since I was a kid my parent would ask me the same thing, don't you have any common sense? But you know what, it's what makes you who you are, loving, caring, fun, awesome person. I love who I am, and even my mentor, husband, and best friend told me to never change. That's what makes us unique is that we are not the same as other people, we are US.

P.S. I'm loving your stories. I'm at work and can't stop reading them. Keep it up.
